26.11.08 , Mumbai

On 26.11.08 Mumbai saw the face of terrorism. This has been one of the worst phases in the history of humanity.

Our real heroes : We look up to all those who got together to fight against the terrorists, those who died so that we might live in peace. Our real heroes - The National Security Guards (NSG), the Marine commandos (marcos), the Army jawans, the Mumbai Police, the Rapid Action Force (RAF), the fire brigade personnel, staff and people trapped in the hotels who showed exemplary courage and hospital staff who worked overtime nursing the wounded.

After 59 hours the ordeal was finally over, but the aftermath continues.

The people are furious. They want answers. Who is to be blamed?
The blame game has begun. We need to realise that this is not a time to blame anybody. We have learnt our lesson the hard way. Its time for some action.

Terrorism and India's internal security system :
I watched a video - http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=Eij5o7XizIA.
The statements made are disturbing. Pakistan's political leaders are of the opinion that the terror attack was due to India's inefficient security system. Comments made were provocative and naive.

I agree our internal security flaws have given them a chance to point fingers at us, but, terrorism is a different issue altogether. Even countries with good security systems, like USA and UK, have been under terrorists attacks.

Terrorism and our inefficient security system are issues India has to deal with simultaneously...(apart from dealing with many other issues like our corrupt politicians)

The comments made in the video show how prejudiced some Pakistanis are. We need to be bothered about such comments made by them...because it has a negative impact on the people of Pakistan (kindof instigating the crowd and misleading them). The world has known that Afganistan and Pakistan have been major breeding grounds for terrorists.
The people of Pakistan need to understand that we are against terrorism not against Pakistan...they're just unfortunate to find themselves on the same grounds. India and Pakistan need to get together..the world needs to get together to fight terrorism. It is sad that the political leaders of Pakistan do not seem to understand this rather misunderstand us. I dont just blame them, even people in India have certain misconceptions about this. We need clarify our stance on this issue.

Terrorism and Religion :
People tend to associate terrorism and religion only because barbaric acts are carried out in the name of religion.
People need to distinguish between religion and terrorism. It is incorrect to associate terrorism with the religion to which the terrorists belong to. Clearly, the people who carry out such acts are not religious..yet the innocent suffer because some tend to resent all people belonging to that particular religion.
In India, we have witnessed attacks on several religious groups. People need stop being biased and have a tolerant outlook towards prople of other faiths.
Those that carry out atrocities in the name of religion should be harshly dealt with, irrespective of the religion they belong to.

Politicians :
Corrupt to the core.
The attack brought out the wrath of the people towards the Indian politicians. Their anger is justified. It was embarassing to hear our politicians make such callous statements and act in such an insensitive manner.

There has been a unanimous outcry for want of better politicians. One must not forget these people were elected by us.
Some people have decided not to vote - they think of it as a "waste". This attitude must change. If there is anything we can do to bring about a change in the political system it is by casting our vote. I agree there is not one politician I can say I look up to.

These politicians are not going to change for the better..the apathy shown by our politicians will continue and we can sit back and talk about it for long - this should be done ..that should be done..this is not right..yet how many of us are willing to take the initiative?
People need to take initiatives..to bring about a change...we've had it for long..and now ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !!
